# Bedrock now runs OpenAI models entirely inside India!

## What was announced?

AWS's What's New page posted "Amazon Bedrock now supports OpenAI models in India." It announces that Amazon Bedrock now offers OpenAI's GPT-5.6 models — Terra and Luna — with India Geo cross-Region inference.

## Why it matters

Some countries have regulatory requirements that inference has to happen entirely within their borders. This update is aimed at customers who need exactly that: in-country inferencing. Cross-Region inference automatically routes requests across multiple AWS Regions, giving you higher throughput without having to manage capacity in each region yourself.

## What changes

There are two new India Geo inference profiles:

- `in.openai.gpt-5.6-terra` for the Terra model
- `in.openai.gpt-5.6-luna` for the Luna model

These route requests only within the India geography — specifically across the Asia Pacific (Mumbai) and Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Regions — so you can scale to meet demand while keeping data processing inside India to satisfy data residency requirements.
