# Amazon EC2 C6in Arrives in Asia Pacific (Taipei)!

Hey everyone, it's Shiichan! Here's another update about an AWS instance landing in a new region.

## What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, Amazon EC2 C6in instances are now available in Asia Pacific (Taipei).

C6in is a sixth-generation network-optimized instance built on 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and the AWS Nitro System. It's a good fit for network virtual appliances (firewalls, virtual routers, load balancers), Telco 5G User Plane Function (UPF), data analytics, high-performance computing (HPC), and CPU-based AI/ML workloads.

## The story so far

C6in was already available across a wide range of regions — the US, Europe, the Middle East, Israel, Africa, South America, Canada, AWS GovCloud, and in Asia Pacific: Hong Kong, Hyderabad, Jakarta, Malaysia, Melbourne, Mumbai, Osaka, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, and Thailand. But engineers running infrastructure in Taipei didn't have it as an option yet.

## What changes

Engineers in the Taipei region can now pick C6in directly. That's great news for network-intensive workloads like virtual appliances or 5G UPF, which can now run in a region close to home.

## Dive Deep

Here's the spec sheet.

- Up to 200 Gbps of network bandwidth (2x more than the 5th generation)
- 10 instance sizes including bare metal, up to 128 vCPUs
- Up to 100 Gbps of Amazon EBS bandwidth, up to 400K IOPS
- Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) support on 32xlarge and metal sizes

## Wrap-up

- Amazon EC2 C6in is now available in Asia Pacific (Taipei)
- Up to 200 Gbps network bandwidth, 2x more than the 5th generation
- Built for network virtual appliances, 5G UPF, HPC, and CPU-based AI/ML workloads
- Great for engineers running network-intensive workloads in the Taipei region!
