# Amazon MWAA Gets a Built-in Monitoring Dashboard with One-Click Alarm Setup

Hi, I'm Shii-chan!

Today I found some great news for Airflow users. This update makes monitoring a lot more convenient, so let me tell you about it!

## What was announced?

According to AWS's What's New, Amazon Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow (MWAA) now includes a built-in monitoring experience. You can now see information right on the environment detail page in the AWS Management Console that previously required opening CloudWatch separately.

## The story so far

Until now, you could already check MWAA environment metrics and set up alarms through Amazon CloudWatch, but the MWAA environment detail page itself didn't have a dedicated monitoring view. To check metrics or configure alarms, you had to head over to the CloudWatch console and hunt down the relevant metrics and thresholds yourself.

## What changes

With this update, you can now handle most of your monitoring needs right from the environment detail page.

- Metrics dashboard: key CloudWatch metrics for your MWAA environment are displayed together in one place
- Overlaid warning ranges: each graph has a toggle for suggested warning ranges, helping you quickly spot conditions that might affect your environment's health or performance
- Alarms table: lists all the CloudWatch alarms associated with your MWAA environment
- Create Recommended Alarms: provisions a curated set of alarms from an AWS-managed template with a single click

The one-click alarm creation especially should save a lot of initial setup effort for anyone who's been manually figuring out thresholds for each metric.

## Dive Deep

Here's a bit more detail on availability.

- This is available for Amazon MWAA Provisioned environments, in all regions where MWAA is supported
- Standard Amazon CloudWatch pricing applies to metric queries and alarms (there's no separate charge for this feature itself)

If you're a data engineer who regularly watches DAG runs and worker health, cutting down the back-and-forth between consoles is a nice win.

## Wrap-up

- Amazon MWAA's environment detail page now includes a built-in monitoring dashboard and alarms table
- The metrics dashboard can overlay suggested warning ranges, making it easier to spot early signs of trouble
- Create Recommended Alarms lets you provision a curated alarm set with one click
- Available for Provisioned environments, with standard CloudWatch pricing applying

If you're running a production Airflow environment on MWAA, it's worth checking out the environment detail page next time you're in the console.
