# Surprise! DataSync Enhanced Mode Now Supports EFS and FSx for Lustre

I found a nice update for AWS DataSync today!

## What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, AWS DataSync's Enhanced mode now supports Amazon EFS and Amazon FSx for Lustre as source or destination locations. DataSync is a service that makes it easy to move data over a network, and Enhanced mode is the mode that processes data in parallel, removes file count limitations, and gives you detailed transfer metrics.

## The story so far

Until now, if you wanted to move data to or from EFS or FSx for Lustre, Basic mode was your only option. Basic mode could still move the data, but you missed out on Enhanced mode's parallel processing, unlimited file counts, and detailed metrics.

## What changes

Now EFS and FSx for Lustre users can move data faster thanks to Enhanced mode's parallel processing, without worrying about file count limits, all while watching detailed transfer metrics. This should make workflows a lot simpler for workloads with huge file counts or transfer volumes — large-scale migrations, prepping training data for agentic AI and machine learning, HPC, genomics processing, and media rendering.
