# A new name! Amazon Q Developer in the console is now the AWS assistant

Hi everyone, it's Shii-chan! Today's news is a rename.

## What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, **Amazon Q Developer** in the AWS Management Console and Console Mobile Apps is now called the **AWS assistant**.

## The story so far

On these surfaces it was known as Amazon Q Developer, giving personalized, account-aware guidance and actions.

## What changes

The capabilities are the same, but the name now says what the product does. AWS says it simplifies how you build, operate, and optimize on AWS.

## Dive Deep

- Currently offered for free
- Existing Amazon Q Developer Pro subscribers automatically keep their Pro Tier capabilities under the AWS assistant
- Available globally
- More at aws.amazon.com/products/assistant/

This is a rename, not a new feature. If your docs or runbooks call the in-console assistant "Amazon Q Developer", they may need updating.

## Wrap-up

- Amazon Q Developer in the console and mobile apps is now the AWS assistant
- Same capabilities, currently free
- Pro Tier capabilities are retained

If you use the console assistant, you only need to learn the new name!
