# Did You Know Claude Code Just Got a Bunch of Quietly Useful Upgrades? (v2.1.238)

Hey, it's me, Shiichan! Today I'm picking out the small-but-nice updates from Claude Code's latest release notes.

## What was announced?

Claude Code's GitHub release page published the changes for v2.1.238, covering both new features and fixes for issues people have likely bumped into while using it.

## What changes

Here's what's new:

- A new `keybindingFlavor` setting: set it to `"readline"` and Ctrl+W in the prompt now deletes back to the previous whitespace, just like in Bash (the default, `"classic"`, is unchanged)
- Plugin marketplaces gained `headersHelper`: a URL marketplace or catalog entry can run a command that mints HTTP headers, like a short-lived token, for catalog and same-origin archive fetches. A catalog entry's `headersHelper` only runs when you install or update that plugin, and `claude plugin install`/`update` now prompts `[y/N]` before running it (or pass `-y` to auto-approve)
- For self-hosted runners, `--defer-shutdown-max-min <minutes>` was added: on SIGTERM, it keeps serving attached sessions for that many minutes before parking and exiting. There's also `--proxy-authorization-command`/`--proxy-authorization-file` for egress proxies that need a freshly minted Proxy-Authorization header on every connection

The fixes are quiet but meaningful:

- Fixed unbounded memory growth in long interactive sessions — subagent tool results are now released once they leave the recent display window
- Fixed custom, project, and plugin output styles drifting back to the default voice mid-session
- Fixed prompt suggestions not staying on for accounts near, but not over, their usage limit when `CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_PROMPT_SUGGESTION=true`
- Fixed worktree-isolation Bash refusals telling you to remove a redirect even when the command had none

## Dive Deep

There's also a batch of Remote Control fixes: sessions can now be reused after deletion, retry behavior improved for login-expiry errors, and `ListAgents`/`SendMessage` now work with Remote Control peers, among several other sync fixes.

On the terminal side, it fixes rapid Ctrl+H (backspace) presses occasionally being ignored, incorrect line wrapping for text with emoji or tabs, and bracketed paste mode lingering after ending a session from a paused (Ctrl+Z) state. macOS startup got faster too.
