# Five Days, One Giant Recap: Everything Cloudflare Announced During Agents Week!

Hey everyone, it's me, Shiichan! Today I found Cloudflare's recap of a full week of AI agent announcements called "Agents Week." Let's go through all five days together!

## What was announced?

From the Cloudflare Blog: a recap article rounding up everything announced during Agents Week, which ran from August 3 to 7.

- Monday: runtime and infrastructure
- Tuesday: the agent development lifecycle
- Wednesday: security and access control
- Thursday: standards for the agentic internet
- Friday: observability and community

Each day had its own theme, ranging from Cloudflare Wallets, a payments system for agents, to Radar Researcher, a conversational way to explore internet data. It was a packed week.

## Why it matters

As Cloudflare's Rita put it,

> Agents represent the next evolution of computing: not only as a new application of AI but also as a new class of software.

The tooling we've relied on for web apps and SaaS, things like development workflows, auth, payments, and bot mitigation, was all built around humans clicking through a browser. As autonomous agents take on more of that work, the execution environment, the development process, access control, and payments all need to be rethought around a different question: can agents run this safely and at scale? Agents Week was Cloudflare's attempt to answer that across its whole platform in one week.

## What changes

For developers, it means new building blocks showed up across the entire lifecycle: building, running, securing, transacting, and getting discovered.

- New runtimes and cross-language RPC make it easier to set up an execution environment for agents
- The development lifecycle now covers live monitoring, tracing, replay, and human-in-the-loop approval for production runs
- Cloudflare Wallets lets agents actually handle payments and transactions themselves
- WriteGuard and the Agent Access Model let you set fine-grained limits on what an agent can write to or access
- WebMCP and AEO help your own site and content get discovered and used by agents

## Dive Deep

Here are the parts I found most technically interesting.

**Cloudflare Wallets** is a programmable wallet system that lets agents handle payments and transactions on their own. It's meant as the foundation for agents to act as participants in the emerging "agentic economy."

**Kitesurf** is a browser built specifically for agents. It's designed to run inside V8 isolates on Workers, trading pixel-perfect rendering for lower memory and CPU usage. It's optimized for an agent reading the page, not a human looking at it.

**MCP v2** is a rewritten version of the Model Context Protocol, aimed at simplifying deployment and improving scalability for agentic applications.

**WriteGuard** adds fine-grained controls to MCP Servers, limiting risky tool calls so agents are less likely to make unwanted writes or changes.

**Radar Researcher** is an AI assistant that lets you ask plain-language questions about internet data and get interactive charts back automatically. It turns Radar's raw numbers into something you can research through conversation.

There was a lot more packed into the five days too. Here's a theme-by-theme rundown:

- Runtime and infrastructure: `@cloudflare/computer` (a runtime built for agents), direct Python-JavaScript communication via Workers RPC, work on serving Kimi and GLM models more efficiently, a new Billable Usage API, and inbound TCP/gRPC support for Workers and Containers (useful for things like real-time voice AI)
- Development lifecycle: the ADLC (Agent Development Lifecycle) framework replacing the traditional SDLC, Cloudflare Agents with live monitoring, tracing, replay, and human approval, local distributed tracing, code-based CI/CD pipelines with automated failure repair, automated enforcement of engineering standards, and automated issue triage for the Astro project
- Security and access control: the Agent Access Model, the open-sourcing of Cloudflare's internal platform Cloudflare OS, and identity-aware analytics in AI Gateway
- Standards for the agentic internet: the Agentic Internet model built around content being readable, discoverable, callable, and payable, WebMCP, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) as an agent-era take on SEO, and Cloudflare AI Search, which turns files or sites into an agent-ready search engine with one command
- Observability and community: a shift in bot mitigation toward continuous trust scoring instead of one-time risk checks, the unification of Workers AI and AI Gateway under a single binding, wallet, and dashboard (with model-first routing coming next), and the Cloudflare Ambassadors program alongside a commitment of an additional $1 million in open-source funding over the next two years

## Wrap-up

- Cloudflare's Agents Week ran for five days across five themes: runtime and infrastructure, the development lifecycle, security, internet standards, and observability/community
- The most technically substantial pieces were Cloudflare Wallets for payments, the agent-only browser Kitesurf, the rewritten MCP v2, the MCP Server guardrail WriteGuard, and the conversational Radar Researcher
- On top of that, a new runtime, cross-language RPC, the ADLC, the Agent Access Model, WebMCP, and AI Search rounded out coverage from development through operations
- Worth a read whether you're the one building and securing agents, or you're just wondering how your own service will get discovered by them
