# Cloudflare Pipelines finally has a price tag!

Hey there, it's me, Shiichan! Today I've got news that Cloudflare's Pipelines finally comes with a price tag.

## What was announced?

Over on Cloudflare's Changelog, the streaming data platform [Pipelines](https://developers.cloudflare.com/pipelines/) got a usage-based pricing model where you pay for what you use. Getting data into a Pipeline stream (ingress) is free, and you're charged per GB for SQL transforms and for the output (sink).

## The story so far

Until now, Pipelines had no published pricing, so a lot of folks were wondering "how much would this cost if I ran it in production?" Now that the numbers are finally out, you can get a feel for the costs and decide whether to put it into production.

## What changes

The best part is that data ingress is free. You can push lots of events toward [R2](https://developers.cloudflare.com/r2/) without paying anything at the front door. On top of that, the Workers Free plan gives you 1 GB per month per dimension and paid plans get 50 GB per month for free, so it's gentle on your wallet when you're just experimenting.

- Ingress: free
- SQL transforms (stateless): $0.04 / GB
- Sink output: $0.03 / GB for JSON, $0.06 / GB for Parquet or [Apache Iceberg](https://iceberg.apache.org/) output
- Free allowance: 1 GB per month on the free plan, 50 GB per month on paid plans

And here's the important bit: billing isn't turned on yet. Cloudflare says it will give at least 30 days notice before it starts charging, so you can build out your setup and estimate your costs while it's still free.
