Four new AWS Heroes just joined the community!

Heads up, it's me, Shiichan! I found a heart-warming little story today, so let me share it with you.

AWS Blog aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

The AWS Blog just published a post called "Meet Our Newest AWS Heroes – May 2026." It announces that 4 new people were welcomed into the AWS Heroes program in May 2026.

AWS Heroes is a program that celebrates people who pour their energy into sharing technical knowledge and building up the community. The post describes them like this:

embody the spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing that makes the AWS community thrive.

Why it matters

A big cloud like AWS runs on more than official docs. It leans heavily on the blogs, meetup talks, and community help that real users create. When these friends who aren't AWS staff share what they know, the rest of us feel safe trying new things.

AWS Heroes is how that contribution gets noticed and thanked. So every new batch of Heroes is a happy moment for the whole community.

What changes

The 4 new Heroes will find it easier to reach even more people. Through their blogs, meetups, and podcasts, builders around the world get more chances to learn.

This time the picks span Europe, North America, and South America, so several language and culture communities should get an extra boost.

Dive Deep

Here are the 4 people recognized this time.

  • Damiano Giorgi (Pavia, Italy): Artificial Intelligence Hero. An AI-focused Cloud Solutions Architect who runs the AWS User Groups in Pavia and Milan. He built the "Unofficial post:Invent Session Suggester" using Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Nova, and writes the "Bass and Bytes" blog.
  • Darryl Ruggles (Ottawa, Canada): Serverless Hero. A Cloud Solutions Architect with a software development background who shares knowledge on serverless, containers, AI/ML, and FinOps through blogging and LinkedIn. He is active in online communities like "Believe In Serverless."
  • Ricardo Daniel Ceci (Buenos Aires, Argentina): Artificial Intelligence Hero. He leads the largest AWS community in Argentina (2,400 members), organizes AWS Community Day Argentina, and hosts a regional podcast. He was named AWS Community Leader of the Year 2025 for LATAM.
  • Matias Kreder (Buenos Aires, Argentina): Artificial Intelligence Hero. An AWS certification Subject Matter Expert who has contributed to AI/ML certifications including the AWS Certified AI Practitioner exam. A three-time AWS DeepRacer finalist, he also runs racing events and ML talks across LATAM.

Three of the four are Artificial Intelligence Heroes, which feels very on-brand for the moment we're in.
