Cognito Rate Limits, Now Yours to Raise and Lower On Demand!

What was announced?

According to AWS's What's New, Amazon Cognito now lets you increase or decrease your provisioned API rate limits on demand. Numbers that used to require a support review can now be adjusted by you directly.

The story so far

Until now, if you wanted to raise a Cognito rate limit, you had to file a request through Service Quotas and wait for a manual review. That meant you had to plan ahead with plenty of headroom to survive a sudden traffic spike, which could get a little nerve-wracking.

What changes

From now on you can adjust your rate limits directly from the Amazon Cognito console or through new provisioning API operations. The best part: changes take effect immediately. You can bump limits up before a campaign and dial them back down afterward, reacting to your traffic in real time.
