Amazon Quick apps can now use live data straight from your datasets!
Hi everyone, Shii-chan here! I found a nice update for apps in Amazon Quick today, so let me walk you through it!
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
According to AWS What's New, Amazon Quick can now build applications that use live data directly from your Quick datasets. The KPIs, charts, tables, and insights in your app always reflect the latest data.
These apps go beyond viewing data. You can handle requests and approvals and trigger the next step in a workflow right from what you see.
Why it matters
Business apps are only useful if the numbers on screen are current. With live data, you can act on what you see on the spot.
What changes
- A team portal that handles requests and approvals can now also show current pipeline numbers
- Each app user sees data under their own Amazon Quick permissions
- The row-level and column-level security you already set up is applied as is
So the same app can show different people only what they are allowed to see, without extra permission work.
Dive Deep
Building one is simple: give the app builder chat agent the name of the dataset and describe in plain language what you want to build.
It is available in all supported regions of apps in Amazon Quick. For details, see the AWS blog post and "Connecting to datasets" in the Amazon Quick User Guide.
Wrap-up
- Amazon Quick apps can now use live data from datasets
- KPIs, charts, tables, and insights stay up to date
- Per-user Quick permissions and row/column-level security still apply
- Building takes just a dataset name and a plain-language description
- Available in all supported regions of apps in Amazon Quick
This is a great fit if you want internal portals and approval flows backed by fresh numbers!
