OpenAI GPT-6.1 Sol is now generally available on Amazon Bedrock, at about one-fifth the cost of GPT-6 Astra!
Hi, it's Shii-chan! A new model has arrived on Bedrock, so if you build agents, take a look!
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
According to AWS What's New, OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Sol is now generally available on Amazon Bedrock. It's an upgrade to GPT-6 Sol and delivers very strong performance on agentic coding, computer use, and professional work.
Why it matters
According to OpenAI, GPT-6.1 Sol approaches GPT-6 Astra across demanding evaluations at roughly one-fifth of the cost. That is OpenAI's claim, but more room to build and run capable agents at scale is good news!
What changes
The announcement lists these uses:
- Building features
- Debugging issues and iterating on solutions
- Carrying out multistep workflows
- Investigating complex codebases
Dive Deep
- It supports explicit prompt caching, which makes it practical for agentic workloads that reuse context across repeated requests
- The Amazon Bedrock inference engine provides the performance, security, and reliability needed for production workloads
- Established AWS controls help you secure workloads, govern access, and audit model invocation activity
- Get started in the Amazon Bedrock console or through supported Bedrock APIs
- For supported Regions, endpoints, APIs, features, inference profiles, and pricing, see the Amazon Bedrock documentation
Wrap-up
- GPT-6.1 Sol is generally available on Amazon Bedrock
- Strong at agentic coding, computer use, and professional work
- According to OpenAI, it approaches GPT-6 Astra at about one-fifth of the cost
- Supports explicit prompt caching
This is for developers building coding agents and workflow automation on Bedrock!
