What was announced?

The Claude blog announced that Anthropic has launched Claude Academy (academy.claude.com), a learning platform. Rather than just walking through product features, it's organized around courses, tutorials, and use cases built around real-world problems.

Why it matters

Anthropic designed Claude Academy by taking the know-how it built up training its own employees and extending it to everyone else. It rests on five design principles:

  • Increase human agency: "Learning to use AI well should open up new doors" — the goal is helping people solve problems they actually care about
  • Mindsets over features: rather than teaching specific behaviors, the curriculum emphasizes durable mindsets, like "today's AI is the worst AI you'll ever use"
  • Context beyond interactions: covering how to delegate tasks, disclose AI use ethically, and decide which work should stay human-centered
  • Active learning: materials that encourage practice and reflection so each learner can find their own approach
  • AI as a learning partner: using Claude itself as a tool to understand complex topics across disciplines

What changes

Internally, Anthropic teaches new hires a framework called the 4D AI Fluency Framework during onboarding, along with "ever-boarding" programs that keep employees learning about AI capabilities and human-agent teamwork on an ongoing basis. Claude Academy is essentially that internal foundation, opened up to millions of external users.

Access is simple: you can go straight to Claude Academy, or find it through the Learn tab in your Claude profile. There's also an optional Claude Academy Skill you can enable for personalized recommendations.
