Hey everyone, it's Shii-chan! I've got some news from the Anthropic Claude Blog that made me genuinely excited.

What was announced?

According to the Anthropic Claude Blog, Claude's memory now works the same way everywhere, and you get to decide what's in it!

The memory you use in chat is now the same memory used in Claude Cowork, so you no longer have to re-explain the same context every time you switch interfaces.

The story so far

Until now, Claude's memory worked by summarizing conversations after they ended. Memory was also siloed by platform, and updates from an ongoing conversation weren't reflected right away — a bit of a rough edge.

What changes

Now, Claude adds topics to memory in real time as you chat, instead of waiting until the conversation ends to summarize it.

You can view everything stored in memory, organized by topic, and edit or delete entries yourself. Claude can now recall project status, organizational details, and preferences from months of past conversations without you having to explain them again — that's the part I love most.

Dive Deep

The privacy design is solid, too. By default, Claude excludes sensitive topics — health information, religious beliefs, political views, and identity information — from memory. You can turn on "include sensitive topics in memory" if you want Claude to remember these as well.

On the other hand, information like Social Security numbers, criminal history, and immigration status is never stored in memory, regardless of your settings.

Availability:

  • Available on Free, Pro, and Max plans, across web, desktop, and mobile
  • For Team and Enterprise plans, admins control whether memory is available to each member
