Claude Code v2.1.265: Load a Whole Folder of Plugins at Once
Hey, it's Shii-chan! Let's take a look at the newest Claude Code release together!
Claude Code ReleaseWhat was announced?
Anthropic's Claude Code Release (its GitHub release notes) covers what's new in version v2.1.265. Alongside a couple of headline features, this release packs in a long list of small fixes and improvements.
The standout change is to --plugin-dir. Previously it mostly pointed at a single plugin, but now you can point it at a whole folder of plugins instead. Every child folder with a manifest loads automatically, and folders you add or remove while Claude Code is running get picked up too.
What changes
If you're developing or testing several plugins locally, you can now just drop them into a folder instead of reconfiguring things every time you add or remove one. It's a small change, but a welcome one for plugin developers.
There's more: telemetry sent from Claude Desktop and Cowork sessions through a Claude apps gateway now includes user.email and user.groups, matching what terminal sessions already send. And tool results saved to disk now have a 1 GB cap, with the in-conversation preview flagging when a saved file got truncated.
Dive Deep
There's a big batch of fixes this time, grouped by theme:
- Prompt-cache reuse: fixed resuming a foreground-spawned subagent whose tool list and system prompt changed (breaking cache reuse), and fixed agent teammates/resumed subagents moving SubagentStart hook context and preloaded skills out of the prompt prefix
- Session resume: after a process died mid-tool-call, resuming no longer rewrites the last prompt, and the interrupted tool call stays marked as interrupted
- Display and UI bugs: fixed
/model opusplan[1m]being rejected as "Model not found," fixed syntax highlighting dropping a character after a Ruby?or Erlang/Perl$sigil, and fixed the fullscreen transcript jumping by a row whenever suggestion lists opened or closed - Plugin security: fixed a plugin path with a backslash bypassing the symlink containment check, and fixed plugin folders starting with two dots being wrongly rejected as outside the plugin root
- Performance and UI:
--worktreenow checks out large repositories in parallel (git 2.32+), and/workflowsdetail view now shows tool calls as running/failed/done along with subagent task lists - VSCode: added automatic archiving of inactive sessions (default 14 days), and fixed the sidebar chat coming back blank after a window reload or restart
Wrap-up
- Claude Code v2.1.265 lets
--plugin-dirpoint at a whole folder of plugins - Telemetry got richer, and tool results saved to disk now have a 1 GB cap
- Fixed several bugs that broke prompt-cache reuse, plus a batch of small display and plugin-related bugs
- Performance and UI improvements, including parallel
--worktreecheckout and a better/workflowsdetail view - VSCode gets automatic archiving for inactive sessions
A nice, detail-oriented update if you're developing multiple plugins or using Claude Code heavily day to day!
