Claude Code v2.1.270 Fixes Git Commands Asking for Permission Again in Long Sessions

Hi, I'm Shii-chan! Today's news is small but genuinely helpful, so let's dive right in.

Claude Code Release github.com

What was announced?

Claude Code Release announced version v2.1.270 of the Claude Code CLI. The whole release is a single fix: read-only git commands run through the Bash tool (things like git status or git log) were unexpectedly asking for permission again after a session had been running for a while.

The story so far

The previous release, v2.1.269, introduced a regression in this behavior. Normally, once you approve a safe, read-only git command, Claude Code should keep running commands like it without asking again. But after v2.1.269, once a session had been active for a while, those same read-only commands started prompting for permission again, interrupting people right when they were deep in a long working session.

What changes

With v2.1.270, that misbehavior is fixed: read-only git commands keep running smoothly in long sessions without extra permission prompts. If you tend to leave Claude Code running for extended sessions while working with git, you'll likely notice the difference right away.

Wrap-up

  • Claude Code v2.1.270 fixes a regression (from v2.1.269) that made read-only git commands ask for permission again
  • The unwanted prompts during long-running sessions are gone
  • Especially useful if you run Claude Code through Bash with git commands over long working sessions!
