Hi everyone, it's Shii-chan! Claude Code v2.1.310 is out, so let me walk you through the highlights.

Claude Code Release github.com

What was announced?

The Claude Code Release notes on GitHub published v2.1.310. There are few new features, but plenty of fixes and improvements.

The story so far

Until now, the Monitor tool and plugin monitors were not available on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry, or when telemetry or nonessential traffic was disabled. This release adds support in those cases.

What changes

You can use the Monitor tool even when running through those cloud providers or with telemetry off. Long foreground sleeps are now blocked there too.

Behind some gateways, requests should fail less often:

  • When a gateway or compatible server rejects the effort-2025-11-24 beta value or mid-conversation system messages, Claude Code now retries without them

Dive Deep

Notable fixes:

  • Background cleanup deleting recent files such as pasted images when cleanupPeriodDays is set to a very large value
  • Compaction after a "Prompt is too long" error keeping too much of a conversation with dense text such as base64 or SVG, so the next request could fail again
  • File read permission prompts not showing where a symbolic link leads
  • A question's auto-continue timeout firing the moment the external editor closed after a long edit
  • On Windows, PreToolUse and PermissionRequest hooks letting a tool call through when Git Bash is missing and the hook's command is only quoted strings

Notable improvements:

  • Auto mode's prompt before the first read outside the working directories now says when blocking those reads makes shell commands ask for permission
  • Lower memory use in non-interactive sessions (-p, Agent SDK) during compaction when the transcript file is very large
  • On Linux, /sandbox and the startup warning now name Ubuntu's AppArmor restriction on user namespaces, and how to lift it, when it keeps bubblewrap from starting
  • The error for an MCP tool call that times out in a non-interactive session with an unanswered elicitation now tells Claude no answer came and not to repeat the call

The release also includes fixes and improvements for the VSCode extension, cloud sessions (including new Enterprise custom role permissions and a Choose file button for setup scripts), Claude Tag, and Code Review admin pages.

Wrap-up

  • Monitor tool and plugin monitors now work on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry
  • Automatic retry avoids request failures behind some gateways
  • Fixes for large cleanupPeriodDays, compaction, and symlink permission prompts
  • A Windows hook bypass is fixed
  • Better guidance for Linux sandbox startup problems

If you run Claude Code through Bedrock or Vertex, behind a gateway, or on Windows, this release is for you!
