You can finally manage AI Search with Terraform! v5.15.0 is packed with new features

Hey, it's me! Cloudflare's Terraform provider has a new release today, and this one isn't just bug fixes — there's a bunch of exciting new feature support packed in!

Cloudflare Changelog developers.cloudflare.com

What was announced?

According to the Cloudflare Changelog, Terraform provider v5.15.0 was released on December 19, 2025. The v5 provider continues its 2-3 week improvement cadence, and the shift from fixing issues one at a time to stabilizing resources one at a time (resource-per-resource) is still ongoing.

The story so far

Previous v5 provider releases mostly focused on resolving community-reported issues to stabilize existing resources. This release keeps up that work, but it also stands out for bundling in a batch of new resource support.

What changes

A lot of new features landed in this release:

  • ai_search: new support for AI Search endpoints
  • certificate_pack: proper handling of Terraform resource IDs for path parameters in API calls
  • worker_version: support for startup_time_ms
  • zero_trust_dlp_custom_entry / _dlp_entry / _dlp_integration_entry / _dlp_predefined_entry: all gained support for upload_status
  • zero_trust_gateway_policy: support for forensic_copy
  • zero_trust_list: support for additional types (category, location, device)

The standout here is that cloudflare_ai_search can now be managed through Terraform. That's great news for teams who want to manage their AI Search setup as code. The four DLP resources gaining upload_status support is also practically useful, letting you track DLP upload status properly through Terraform.

Dive Deep

On the bug fix side:

  • access_rules: added validation to prevent state drift (a workaround since Semantic Equality isn't an option)
  • cloudflare_pages_project: addressed drift issues (two fix commits)
  • cloudflare_worker: fixed to allow clean imports (two fix commits)
  • list_items: added validation for IP List items to avoid inconsistent state
  • zero_trust_access_application: removed all conditions from the sweeper
  • spectrum_application: mapped missing fields during Spectrum resource import

As with previous releases, the guidance remains to hold off on migrating to v5 while stabilization continues, with a proper migration tool for popular resources still planned for March 2026.

Wrap-up

  • Terraform provider v5.15.0 was released
  • New support for ai_search endpoints means you can now manage AI Search via Terraform
  • Four DLP resources gained upload_status support, and Gateway Policy gained forensic_copy
  • Drift and import issues were fixed for pages_project and cloudflare_worker
  • Migrating to v5 is still recommended to wait on, with a proper migration tool planned for March 2026
