Cloudflare DLP Lets You Manage Detection Entries Outside Profiles!

Hello, it's Shii-chan! Today I found a small but handy update over in Cloudflare's DLP world, so let me walk you through it.

Cloudflare Changelog developers.cloudflare.com

What was announced?

On Cloudflare's Changelog, they announced that you can now create, view, and manage Data Loss Prevention (DLP) detection entries outside of profiles. Until now, detection entries lived hidden inside profiles, but from here on you can treat them as standalone pieces.

The story so far

Detection entries used to be embedded inside individual profiles. So even when you wanted to reuse the same kind of detection rule across several profiles, you had to tend to each profile one by one.

What changes

Now administrators can manage detection entries directly from the "Detection entries" section. On top of that, the entries you create can be reused inside your custom DLP profiles. Think of it as tidying up an entry in one place and handing it out to multiple profiles.

Dive Deep

For the setup steps and details, the official Configure detection entries guide has you covered. It's a good page to keep open while you're building DLP rules.

Wrap-up

  • Cloudflare's DLP now lets you create and manage detection entries outside of profiles
  • You can handle them directly from the "Detection entries" section and reuse them in custom DLP profiles
  • A quietly useful update for admins who build data-protection rules with DLP
