Hey there, it's Shiichan! Today I've got a little farewell for you. A technology that helped speed up the web for a long time is finally retiring.

What was announced?

From the Cloudflare Changelog: support for Cloudflare AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) and SXG (Signed Exchanges) has reached end of life. It's an update under the Speed category.

The story so far

AMP is a way to render pages super fast on mobile. SXG (Signed Exchanges) lets you deliver content with a signature, which could speed up things like display from search results. On Cloudflare, you could turn these on with a single setting.

What changes

The big point is that you can no longer configure them. But here's the reassuring part: these features have been disabled since October 2025, so even if you had them set up, your traffic won't change. So there's basically nothing you need to rush to do.

Here are the concrete changes coming up.

  • You can no longer newly configure AMP/SXG through the API or rulesets
  • The Zone API will start throwing errors if you try to configure it
  • Rulesets that still contain SXG configuration will fail to save until SXG is removed

If an old ruleset still has SXG configuration in it, it might get stuck when you try to save. In that case, just remove the SXG entry and you're good.
