What was announced?

Cloudflare's Changelog announced Kitesurf, a new browser running on Browser Run. It's a stateless, highly scalable browser that runs entirely on top of Workers, and it's designed specifically for AI agents. It's currently in beta and free to use.

Why it matters

Agent-style tasks like taking screenshots or extracting HTML tend to happen in bursts as AI agent usage grows. Running that kind of workload on a Chromium-based browser tends to push up CPU and memory costs, and puts a ceiling on how many sessions you can handle at once. Kitesurf is a browser designed with exactly that kind of bursty, AI-driven load in mind.

What changes

Compared to Chromium, Kitesurf uses 3 to 7 times less CPU and memory for common agentic tasks like screenshots and HTML extraction. That means you can run more sessions on the same resources, which is a nice win for both scale and cost when running AI agent workloads.

And here's the best part: your existing clients already work. There's no rewrite needed to migrate, you can opt in to Kitesurf just by adding a browser=kitesurf parameter to any Browser Run CDP or Quick Action endpoint.
