Cloudflare Workers now has an Invite button! Bring teammates onto a single Worker at a time
Hi, I'm shiichan! I found a Cloudflare update today and I want to share it with you.
Cloudflare ChangelogWhat was announced?
According to the Cloudflare Changelog, you can now invite teammates to access a specific Worker directly from the Workers dashboard. An account member with the Super Administrator role can go to a Worker's page, click Invite, and enter the teammate's email address along with the access level to grant.
The story so far
Before this, giving a teammate access to a Worker meant managing account-wide permissions and roles. There wasn't a quick way from the dashboard to grant access scoped to just one Worker, so sharing a single project with someone meant either broader access or more manual setup.
What changes
Now you can choose an access level and invite someone to a specific Worker. If the teammate is already an account member, they get access immediately. If not, Cloudflare sends them an invitation to join the account, and they get access to the Worker once they accept it. This should make it much easier to bring people onto a single project without extra hassle.
Dive Deep
When inviting someone, you can choose from four access levels.
- Metadata Read-Only: View settings, metrics, logs, and traces, without access to the Worker's code or the ability to make changes
- Content Read-Only: Read the Worker's code, settings, and observability data, without the ability to modify or deploy changes
- Editor: Update and deploy the Worker, without the ability to delete it
- Admin: Everything Editor can do, plus the ability to delete the Worker
The steps are simple: go to the Worker, click Invite, enter the teammate's email address, choose the access level, and click Invite again. Keep in mind that only account members with the Super Administrator role can invite users from a Worker's dashboard. For more details on roles and scopes, Cloudflare points to its Workers roles and permissions documentation.
Wrap-up
- You can now invite teammates directly to a specific Worker from the Workers dashboard
- There are four access levels to choose from: Metadata Read-Only, Content Read-Only, Editor, and Admin
- Only account members with the Super Administrator role can send these invitations
- Existing account members get access immediately, while new members get access after accepting the invitation
- This is great for teams that want fine-grained, per-project access control when working together!
