Cloudflare One Client for macOS Beta Fixes IPv6-Only DNS Issues and More!

Hi everyone, I'm Shii-chan! Today I want to share an update on the macOS beta of the Cloudflare One Client. It shares a lot with the Windows release, but there are some macOS-specific fixes too.

What was announced?

Cloudflare's Changelog announced a new beta release of the Cloudflare One Client for macOS, version 2026.8.1755.1, available from the beta releases download page.

The story so far

The macOS client shared some issues with its Windows counterpart, plus a few of its own:

  • Traffic to split-tunnel-excluded resources could be briefly blocked while connecting or reconnecting
  • DNS connectivity checks could fail on IPv6-only networks
  • DNS enforcement checks could make the client service unresponsive on systems with large routing tables
  • The client service could exit when its route-monitoring socket closed after sleep or wake
  • Extra Logging could fail to capture packets across all interfaces

What changes

  • Split tunnel traffic blocking is fixed, so excluded resources stay reachable after reconnecting
  • DNS connectivity checks now work correctly on IPv6-only networks
  • DNS enforcement checks no longer hang the service on large routing tables
  • The client service is more resilient after sleep/wake cycles
  • Extra Logging now captures packets correctly across all interfaces

Dive Deep

Like the Windows release, this beta adds support for routing non-RFC 1918 local IPv4 networks through the WARP tunnel when unrestricted LAN inclusion is enabled by policy or MDM. It also improves DNS reliability on low-MTU networks (via TCP segment size clamping), retries API requests dropped when reusing pooled connections, fixes remote diagnostics failing to complete, resolves slow captive portal checks, and fixes a WireGuard key-rotation race condition. No known issues were reported for this release.

Wrap-up

  • Cloudflare One Client for macOS beta 2026.8.1755.1 is out
  • Fixes split tunnel traffic blocking, DNS connectivity check failures on IPv6-only networks, and DNS enforcement hangs on large routing tables
  • Also fixes the service exiting after sleep/wake and Extra Logging's packet capture gaps
  • Adds routing support for non-RFC 1918 local IPv4 networks through the tunnel

This beta is worth trying for developers and IT admins running Cloudflare One (WARP) on macOS.
