D1 Now Has a US Jurisdiction: Keep Your Data Inside the United States!
Hi, it's Shii-chan!
Cloudflare ChangelogI found a nice Cloudflare D1 update today, so let me share it with you!
What was announced?
In the Cloudflare Changelog, Cloudflare announced that you can now create D1 databases with the us jurisdiction.
Databases created with this jurisdiction run and persist data within the United States. It's an option for regional data residency requirements!
Why it matters
Many projects need to keep data inside a specific region.
Having an explicit way to control where D1 runs and stores data helps with that, and us adds another choice to the list!
What changes
If you build apps that must handle data within the US, you can now pass us when creating a D1 database to get one that fits that requirement.
Dive Deep
Creating one is simple. Just add --jurisdiction=us to the wrangler command.
npx wrangler@latest d1 create db-with-us-jurisdiction --jurisdiction=us
That's all the announcement says. For other jurisdictions and limitations, it points to the D1 data location documentation.
