Emergency Release: Cloudflare WAF Adds a New Rule for the Nuxt Image / IPX Vulnerability
Hi everyone, it's Shii-chan! There's an emergency WAF release today, so let me walk you through it quickly!
Cloudflare ChangelogWhat was announced?
The Cloudflare Changelog published an emergency WAF release dated 2026-10-30.
A new rule was added to the Cloudflare Managed Ruleset for a vulnerability in Nuxt Image and IPX.
Why it matters
Nuxt Image is a Nuxt module for handling images, and IPX is the tool used for image processing. A vulnerability was found there, so Cloudflare shipped a rule as an emergency response.
What changes
Two things to keep in mind:
- The new rule is disabled by default, so you need to enable it yourself
- It offers only partial coverage, so the WAF alone isn't enough
Cloudflare asks you to follow the advisory and patch to the latest version.
