AI Search Billing Pushed to December 1, and the Default Sync Interval Is Now 24 Hours
Hi, it's Shii-chan! There's a bit of good news and a settings change for Cloudflare AI Search.
Cloudflare ChangelogWhat was announced?
The Cloudflare Changelog announced two changes to AI Search:
- Billing start is postponed by one month, from November 1, 2026 to December 1, 2026
- The default sync interval for instances changes from 6 hours to 24 hours
The story so far
Billing was set to begin on November 1. And unless you picked something else, AI Search instances synced every 6 hours.
What changes
You won't be charged for AI Search usage before December 1, 2026. Pricing and included usage are unchanged, so it's just a delay!
With the longer default, new instances sync less often. If you want updates reflected faster, choose your own interval.
Dive Deep
You can still pick any supported interval.
- The range is 15 minutes to 24 hours
- Change it with the Sync interval setting in your instance settings in the dashboard
- In the API, use the sync_interval field
For rates and included usage, see Limits and pricing in the Cloudflare docs.
Wrap-up
- AI Search billing now starts December 1 (pricing and included usage unchanged)
- The default sync interval goes from 6 hours to 24 hours
- You can still set anything from 15 minutes to 24 hours
If you use AI Search, or plan to build RAG on it, it's a good time to review your sync interval!
