What was announced?
On June 2, 2026, OpenAI News announced ChatGPT Sites, a feature that lets you build and share live websites or lightweight apps using Codex. The whole flow — describing, building, and deploying — happens in the same workspace. It comes with hosting, access control, storage, and database support built in, and you don't need any coding knowledge; you just describe what you want in plain language.
"Sites" here mainly refers to internal pages, meaning tools built for people inside your organization or workspace.
Why it matters
Until now, if you wanted a small internal dashboard or tracker, you usually had to ask an engineer for help or wrangle a spreadsheet into doing the job. ChatGPT Sites is aimed squarely at that gap: you want a small tool, but it's not worth pulling an engineer off their real work for it. It's built for things like launch trackers, dashboards, simple calculators, and onboarding pages — the kind of page a team keeps coming back to for the latest status on something.
What changes
Building a no-code internal tool used to mean signing up for a dedicated service or hunting down and tweaking a template. With ChatGPT Sites, you can build a site as a natural extension of chatting with Codex, then share it directly with your team. The big shift is that people in product or leadership roles can turn an idea into something real without routing it through engineering first.

Sites can't connect directly to live data today
So if you need frequently changing information, you'll need to pair it with a separate automation feature. It's also noted that more complex products "require a different tool or a larger engineering effort," so ChatGPT Sites is clearly positioned as a feature for lightweight tools, not full products.
This feature is currently available in preview for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise plan users, and access to shared sites is gated by "Sign in with ChatGPT" authentication.
