What changes

This fall, in the United States and Brazil, OpenAI plans to show live vote counts from The Associated Press as results come in on election night. In the US, it will also partner with Democracy Works to display voting and registration info like polling locations. Globally, web search will keep getting better at surfacing helpful answers with source links.

Supporting cyber defenders. OpenAI recently announced Daybreak, its effort to change how software is built and defended. It includes Codex Security, which automatically finds, validates, and helps remediate vulnerabilities in developers' code. For more advanced defense, the Trusted Access for Cyber (TAC) program gives verified individuals access to frontier models for defense. Combating misuse. Under its Usage Policies, OpenAI prohibits using its tools for election interference, demobilization, or deceiving people about the origin of AI content. It also decided not to allow political ads this cycle. Scaled campaign messaging stays off-limits, but human-directed work like internal drafts, translation, and compliance tasks is allowed.

Monitoring bias. To keep ChatGPT neutral in political conversations, OpenAI points to its Model Spec principle Seeking the Truth Together. The model is designed to avoid manipulating users or hiding relevant facts to nudge them one way.
