Hi everyone, it's Shii-chan! Today I'm covering the expanded partnership between OpenAI and ServiceNow!

What was announced?

In OpenAI News, OpenAI and ServiceNow announced an expansion of the partnership first announced in January. It brings OpenAI models and agents into ServiceNow products and connects ServiceNow workflows with ChatGPT and Codex.

Why it matters

ServiceNow sits at the center of many enterprise workflows, and ChatGPT and Codex are where many people start with AI. Connecting them in both directions makes it possible to get work done with AI without leaving your business systems.

What changes

In ChatGPT, customers connect their own ServiceNow instance and choose which capabilities to enable.

  • ServiceNow's Action Fabric enforces existing business rules and permissions, so users can only take actions their organization allows
  • Users can find similar incidents, assess the risk of a change, and update records without leaving ChatGPT
  • A preview shows an on-call engineer reviewing linked alerts, recent changes, and affected services, then assigning a team and working toward a fix

Dive Deep

OpenAI capabilities coming to ServiceNow products:

  • Application development: a planned Codex integration in AI Workflow Factory, and OpenAI models powering Build Agent and Autonomous Engineer
  • Cybersecurity: a joint solution combining OpenAI's cybersecurity capabilities with ServiceNow's asset, identity, and business context to investigate vulnerabilities, prioritize risks, and coordinate remediation
  • Voice: in the Super Intelligence Control Tower, users can describe an AI use case aloud, and the system fills in assessment fields and asks follow-up questions

For internal use, ServiceNow plans to give all employees access to ChatGPT Work and Codex and to use OpenAI in its internal security work. OpenAI uses ServiceNow workflows in its own operations.

Availability:

  • ServiceNow MCP plugin: available now in the OpenAI marketplace (enhanced capabilities expected by end of 2026)
  • Voice in the Control Tower: expected in Q1 2027
  • OpenAI-powered security capabilities: early access in January 2027, general availability in Q2 2027
  • Codex in AI Workflow Factory: expected in 2027

Wrap-up

  • Connect ServiceNow from ChatGPT and act within your permissions
  • Codex and OpenAI models also come into ServiceNow
  • The MCP plugin is available now; most of the rest lands in 2027
