KPMG Brings Claude to 276,000+ Employees Company-Wide!

Hey everyone, it's Shiichan! Today I've got a piece of news that shakes up the business world — a huge audit and consulting firm going all-in on AI across the entire company.

Anthropic News anthropic.com

What was announced?

On Anthropic's News, KPMG announced a strategic alliance to bring Claude into the heart of its business. KPMG is one of the world's largest professional services firms, doing audit, tax, legal, and advisory work across 138 countries and territories.

Here are the headline pieces:

  • Claude gets embedded into Digital Gateway, KPMG's main platform (starting with new tools for tax and legal clients)
  • Every one of KPMG's 276,000+ employees worldwide will get access to Claude
  • Anthropic is naming KPMG a preferred partner for private equity (PE), and the two will build new Claude-powered products together for PE portfolio companies

Why it matters

The numbers alone are striking. 276,000 people means AI reaching an entire company. And audit and tax are fields where accuracy, accountability, and trust aren't a nice-to-have — they're the baseline.

Here's how Anthropic's Daniela Amodei put it:

KPMG works in industries where accuracy, accountability, and trust aren't optional, and they're applying the same standard to AI.

A firm from that demanding world choosing a company-wide rollout is what gives this news its weight.

What changes

The clearest change is build speed. Rema Serafi, Vice Chair of Tax at KPMG US, says building an AI agent to keep up with changing tax regulations used to take weeks, hopping between multiple tools and chat windows.

With Cowork and Managed Agents integrated in Digital Gateway, that same capability takes minutes.

Weeks to minutes. That's a whole new way of working.

Dive Deep

Let me look a little closer.

Digital Gateway is KPMG's main platform for client work, built on Microsoft Azure. It's where KPMG's tax expertise, proprietary tools, and client data live together — and now Claude Cowork and Managed Agents are embedded right inside it, so KPMG's people and their clients can build AI capabilities directly in the platform.

On the private equity side, KPMG becomes a preferred consultant for deploying Claude and Anthropic's agents into portfolio companies. As part of that, a new offering called KPMG Blaze can embed Claude Code to help modernize aging IT systems faster.

On cybersecurity, KPMG and Anthropic teams will use Claude to find and fix vulnerabilities in critical systems, guided by KPMG's Trusted AI framework.

One more thing I love: joint research from KPMG and the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin. It looks at how the value of an AI deployment depends on what people do alongside the technology, not just the tech itself — clarifying what "human in the loop" should actually mean in practice.
