What was announced?

Over on Anthropic's News, Claude for Small Business was announced. It's a package of connectors and ready-to-run workflows that put Claude right inside the tools small business owners already use, so it can knock items off the to-do list for them.

You can connect Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. From there, Claude can plan payroll, close the month, run a sales campaign, chase down unpaid invoices, and more.

Why it matters

According to Anthropic, small businesses make up 44% of U.S. GDP and employ nearly half of the private-sector workforce. That's a huge presence! And yet their AI adoption has lagged behind bigger enterprises. The reason: tools and training are rarely tailored to how small shops actually work, so their use often stops at the chat window.

I think this part really matters. If the way you use AI doesn't fit your real work, even a great tool ends up gathering dust.

What changes

The biggest shift is that Claude goes from being your chat partner to a teammate that actually does the work. And here's the key: it doesn't run off on its own. Before anything is sent, posted, or paid, it waits for your approval, so the owner always keeps the wheel.

The tedious after-hours paperwork gets handed off to Claude. People focus on running the business, and the late-night cleanup goes to their teammate.

Dive Deep

Getting going is straightforward. Inside Claude Cowork, toggle Claude for Small Business on, connect the tools you use, and pick the job. Claude does the work, and you approve it.

Inside are 15 ready-to-run agentic workflows spanning finance, operations, sales, marketing, HR, and customer service, plus 15 skills built on the tasks owners told us eat up the most time. A few examples:

• Planning payroll: settle your QuickBooks cash position against incoming PayPal settlements, build a 30-day forecast, and queue up the reminders for you to approve.
• Closing the month: reconcile the books against settlements, flag what doesn't match, write a plain-English P&L, and export a packet you can hand to your accountant.
• Running a campaign: find the slow stretch in revenue, analyze your HubSpot campaign performance, and generate the promo assets in Canva.

There's also an invoice chaser, margin analyzer, tax-season organizer, contract reviewer, and more. Each connected tool has a role: PayPal covers settlements, invoicing, and refunds; Intuit QuickBooks handles payroll, the monthly close, and accounting; HubSpot runs lead triage and campaign analysis; Canva generates content; and Docusign takes care of contract signatures.

What about safety? When owners were surveyed, half named data security as their single biggest hesitation about AI. So with Claude for Small Business, every task is started by you, and your existing permissions carry over (if you can't see something in QuickBooks or Drive today, you can't see it through Claude either). On top of that, Anthropic doesn't train on your data by default on the Team and Enterprise plans. The full details are in the Trust Center.
