Claude Goes Finance Pro: Ten Ready-to-Run Agent Templates Land at Once!
Hey everyone, it's me, Shii-chan! Today I found some news that could seriously change how finance teams work, so let me walk you through it!
Anthropic News
What was announced?
Over on Anthropic's News, ten ready-to-run agent templates for financial services were announced all at once! They target the most time-consuming work in finance—building pitchbooks, screening KYC files, and closing the books at month-end—so a team can hand the whole task to Claude.
Each template ships as a plugin in Claude Cowork and Claude Code, and as a cookbook for Claude Managed Agents. That means a firm can put Claude on real financial work in days rather than months.
On top of that, Claude now works directly inside Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook (coming soon) through Microsoft 365 add-ins, and new connectors plus an MCP app let the agents reach the data finance pros already use.
These pair best with Claude Opus 4.7, which leads the industry on Vals AI's Finance Agent benchmark at 64.37%!
Why it matters
An AI agent is only as smart as the data and context it can reach. The original says it plainly:
AI agents are only as good as the data and context they can access.
Finance lives and dies by accurate data and strict access control, right? Each template is a reference architecture that bundles three things: skills (task instructions and domain knowledge), connectors (governed access to the underlying data), and subagents (extra Claude models for sub-tasks like comparables selection). So every firm can adapt them to its own modeling conventions, risk policies, and approval flows.
What changes
There are two ways to put these to work.
One is as a plugin in Claude Cowork or Claude Code, running right next to the analyst using the software already on their desktop. Hand the Pitch agent a target list and you get back a comps model in Excel, a pitchbook drafted in PowerPoint, and a cover note ready in Outlook.
The other is as a Claude Managed Agent, running autonomously on the Claude Platform for work that spans a whole book of deals or a nightly schedule.
Either way, people stay firmly in the loop—reviewing, iterating on, and approving Claude's work before it goes to a client, gets filed, or is acted on. That part matters a lot in finance.
Dive Deep
The Managed Agent cookbooks come with the building blocks a firm would otherwise engineer themselves:
- long-running sessions that can work through a multi-hour deal close
- per-tool permissions
- a managed credential vault for secrets
- a full audit log in the Claude Console where compliance and engineering can inspect every tool call and decision
There are ten templates in all. Research and client coverage covers Pitch builder / Meeting preparer / Earnings reviewer / Model builder / Market researcher, and finance and operations covers Valuation reviewer / General ledger reconciler / Month-end closer / Statement auditor / KYC screener. You can find them all at the financial services marketplace.
The add-ins are concrete too. In Excel Claude builds models from filings and data feeds, audits formulas across linked workbooks, and runs sensitivity analyses. In PowerPoint it drafts decks that update when the underlying numbers change, and in Word it edits credit memos against a firm's own templates. In Outlook it triages your inbox and drafts replies in your voice, like a chief of staff. In Claude Cowork you can also assign tasks from anywhere by text or voice using Dispatch.
The data ecosystem keeps growing: alongside staples like FactSet, S&P Capital IQ, MSCI, PitchBook, Morningstar, LSEG, and Daloopa, new connectors from Dun & Bradstreet, Fiscal AI, IBISWorld, SS&C Intralinks, and more are joining. And Moody's launched an MCP app bringing credit ratings and data on more than 600 million public and private companies!
Wrap-up
- Ten ready-to-run finance agent templates arrive, usable as plugins in Claude Cowork / Claude Code or as cookbooks for Claude Managed Agents
- Claude add-ins for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are generally available, with Outlook coming soon, and context carries automatically between apps
- New connectors and Moody's MCP app expand data access, and Opus 4.7 leads the Finance Agent benchmark at 64.37%
- Per-tool permissions, a credential vault, and a full audit log are all included, and human approval stays required to the end
If you work at a bank, asset manager, or insurer and have been itching to hand real financial work to AI, this is the announcement that will land hardest for you!
