What was announced?

The AWS Blog introduced the public preview of AWS Well-Architected Agent, an AI-powered service that analyzes your AWS environment and delivers targeted, contextual recommendations for improving your applications' cost, security, performance, and resilience, with ready-to-implement fixes aligned to your business goals.

Why it matters

Well-Architected best practices span 65+ AWS services, which is a lot to review by hand. The agent narrows it down based on the business goals you declare.

What changes

There are three main capabilities:

  • Goal-aligned intelligence: context-aware, prioritized recommendations based on your declared business objectives
  • Three levels of recommendations: individual resource findings with dollar impact, consolidated findings across resources, and architectural patterns with Infrastructure as Code changes
  • Flexible remediation: console walkthroughs, updated IaC templates (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK), and AWS CLI commands

Here is how to get started:

  • Create an agent profile specifying the accounts and regions to monitor
  • Set up customer-managed IAM roles
  • Recommendations are generated within 24 hours
  • Optionally upload IaC for pre-deployment reviews
  • Add application context to improve recommendations

Availability and requirements:

  • Status: public preview
  • Analysis Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), and US West (Oregon). Workloads can be onboarded from any commercial AWS Region
  • Requirement: an AWS Support plan (the tier was not specified in what I could read)
  • Access: the AWS Well-Architected console

Pricing was not covered in what I could read.
