Lambda Runs a Plain HTTP Server with No Adapter! AWS Weekly Roundup (Oct 19)
Hi, it's Shii-chan! Another AWS roundup is here, so let's go through it together.
AWS BlogWhat was announced?
This is the AWS Weekly Roundup from the AWS Blog (October 19, 2026). It opens by saying that last week did not add a new kind of compute. Instead, the launches shortened the distance between the code you already have and that code being live.
Why it matters
Lambda can now run a plain HTTP server with no adapter in front of it, and S3 can be provisioned from inside Vercel. Both are about getting existing code live faster.
Two to check first
- AWS Lambda Web Functions: A new Lambda form factor that runs standard HTTP apps without rewriting them as event handlers. Deploy with
aws lambda-web deployand you get an HTTPS URL. Each environment handles up to 128 concurrent requests and billing is based on CPU time. It runs on Node.js 24 (Arm64) in five Regions with VPC connectivity. Adding--regionssets up latency-based routing, and traffic can be split by weight across revisions. CloudFront can also use it as an origin. See the Lambda Web Functions announcement. - Trust in Depth: An argument that human approval for every agent action does not scale. AWS proposes answering four questions (scope, know, bound, and observe) at four points, with agent limits enforced outside the agent using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore policies at the gateway. Last week's launches
- Amazon S3 on the Vercel Marketplace and v0: Provision general purpose buckets, S3 Tables, and S3 Vectors from the Vercel dashboard or v0. Short-lived OIDC tokens are exchanged for scoped STS credentials, so no static keys are stored
- EC2 T8i instances in South America (São Paulo): Up to 30% better price performance than T3 with the same CPU credit model.
t8i.microandt8i.smallare in the AWS Free Tier - Reflection Beam on Amazon SageMaker JumpStart: Reflection AI's open-weight agentic coding model, with 501B total and 23B active parameters under Apache 2.0, launching in N. Virginia and Ohio
- Lambda Durable Execution SDK for Go is GA: Multi-step Go workflows can checkpoint progress and pause for up to a year for external events. Test locally with the
durabletestpackage - CloudWatch log routing and chained log parsers: Route events to different log groups based on processed fields, and let a later parser use fields extracted by an earlier one
Other AWS news
- AWS Security Agent exploits 33 of 37 new CVEs: The autonomous penetration-testing agent, now part of AWS Continuum, was tested on 37 recent CVEs. After audit, 33 exploits were confirmed, and two runs took the target down before the flag could be read

- AWS Community Day Brasil Norte: Belém, October 31
Wrap-up
- Lambda Web Functions let you run HTTP apps on Lambda as they are
- S3 can be provisioned straight from Vercel
- The Lambda Durable Execution SDK for Go is GA
- For agent safety, AWS suggests enforcing limits outside the agent
If you run web apps on serverless or combine Vercel with AWS, this was a great week for you!
