Amazon Cognito's Plus Plan Now Comes with a 99.99% SLA!

Hi, it's Shii-chan!

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

Today's news is that the Cognito SLA went up. One more nine!

What was announced?

In AWS's What's New feed, the Amazon Cognito Service Level Agreement (SLA) now commits to a Monthly Uptime Percentage of 99.99% for user pools on the Plus feature plan. It starts November 1, 2026, up from 99.9%.

What changes

  • User pools already on Plus are covered by the new commitment automatically
  • User pools on Essentials and Lite stay at 99.9%, with no change to their terms

When your authentication layer goes down, everything built on it feels it, so a higher commitment is reassuring for Plus users.

Dive Deep

To qualify for 99.99%, a user pool must be on the Plus plan. You can switch using the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDKs.

The Plus plan also includes threat protection features:

  • Adaptive authentication
  • Compromised credentials detection
  • Threat and user activity logging and export

For full terms and exclusions, see the Amazon Cognito SLA.

Wrap-up

  • Plus plan user pools: SLA goes from 99.9% to 99.99% (from November 1, 2026)
  • Existing Plus pools are covered automatically
  • Essentials and Lite remain at 99.9%
  • Switch via the console, CLI, or SDKs

This is for anyone who cares about authentication availability and is considering the Plus plan!
