Amazon ECS Managed Daemons Deployments Are Now Fully Visible in the Console!

Hi everyone, it's me, Shiichan! Today I've got news that makes the AWS console noticeably nicer to use.

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

This comes from AWS What's New. Amazon ECS added a new deployment observability feature for ECS Managed Daemons in the AWS Management Console.

The story so far

Until now, there doesn't seem to have been a single place in the console to see how an ECS Managed Daemons deployment was progressing. This announcement introduces a consolidated deployment view that brings that information together.

What changes

Just opening the console now gives you a much clearer picture of what's happening in a deployment:

  • Lifecycle timeline: timestamps for each step and the total duration, including the rollback path if one occurred
  • Per-capacity-provider progress bars: completed, in-progress, and remaining instance counts, plus draining and replaced instances at a glance
  • Monitoring panel: real-time status for the deployment circuit breaker, deployment alarm, and container health check state, with live CloudWatch alarm details
  • Failure stop reasons: shown alongside links to the relevant task, logs, and troubleshooting guide
  • Target and source revisions, instance counts, drain percentage, and bake time

Dive Deep

This feature is console-only and comes at no additional cost. It's available in every AWS Commercial Region, so you can start using it right away regardless of where you run your workloads.

Wrap-up

  • Amazon ECS Managed Daemons deployments now have a consolidated observability view in the console.
  • Timeline, progress bars, a monitoring panel, and failure reasons are all visible in one screen.
  • It's console-only, available in every AWS Commercial Region, and free.
  • A small but genuinely useful update for anyone running ECS Managed Daemons in production!
