Amazon Quick Gets Always-On Agents and a Pile of Enterprise Controls
Hey everyone, it's me! Today I found a big Amazon Quick update, and it's packed with so many features I got excited just reading through it!
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
According to AWS What's New, Amazon Quick has rolled out a bundle of new capabilities aimed at making work easier to organize, governing it across an organization, and making its answers more trustworthy. The rollout spans desktop and mobile, and here are the highlights:
- Always-on agents that keep running in the cloud even after you close your laptop
- A sharper, easier-to-scan activity feed
- Enterprise-grade admin controls
- Team collaboration and sharing features
- Native desktop support and local folder search
The story so far
Until now, Amazon Quick's agents and feed mostly assumed you had your device open to see things happen. Admin-side permission controls were also fairly limited, without much support for mobile device management or data loss prevention (DLP) integration. Agent hours were capped too: 4 hours a month on Professional and 8 hours a month on Enterprise, which wasn't a lot for teams who wanted to lean on agents heavily.
What changes
The headline change is that agents no longer stop working when you step away. Scheduled tasks and monitoring agents now run in the cloud and deliver results straight to your feed, even with your laptop closed. That means agents keep making progress while you're in a meeting or away from your desk.
On top of that, every subscriber gets more agent hours each month:
- Professional: 4 hours → 8 hours
- Enterprise: 8 hours → 18 hours
These are now combined into a single, simpler allotment instead of multiple separate buckets, which should make it easier to manage. New users can create a free account and start using Quick within minutes.
Dive Deep
The activity feed now includes top-level filters, an improved catch-up view, a daily briefing that refreshes three times a day, and search across up to seven days of feed history. That should make it much easier to spot what actually needs your attention when you're busy.
For administrators, the new release brings:
- Mobile device management (MDM) support
- Custom per-user permission settings
- Integration with Microsoft Purview data loss prevention (DLP)
On the collaboration side, teams can now share files as well as publish agents and skills for others in the organization to discover and install, and browse a catalog of official skills.
The desktop experience got stronger too: Quick spaces and Quick apps now run natively on the desktop, any indexed local folder can become a searchable space, and inline citations let you verify every answer against its original source.
Wrap-up
- Agents are now always-on, continuing to work even when your device is closed
- The activity feed adds filters, a daily briefing, and 7-day search
- Admins get MDM support, custom permissions, and Purview DLP integration
- Agents and skills can now be shared and browsed via a catalog
- Native desktop support, local folder search, and inline citations were added
- Monthly agent hours grew to 8 (Professional) and 18 (Enterprise)
This update is especially great news for admins running Amazon Quick across an organization, and for teams who want to lean on agents a lot more.
