Hello, it's Shii! Today I've got news from AWS's "AWS What's New" about the office apps you use every day getting a bit smarter. Amazon Quick's Microsoft 365 extensions are now generally available!

What was announced?

According to AWS's "AWS What's New," Amazon Quick's Microsoft 365 extensions for Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook are now generally available (GA). These extensions let Quick work directly inside the M365 environment you already use, handling complex tasks for you.

Here's what each one does:

  • Excel extension: complex spreadsheet analysis, building pivot tables and charts, importing and cleaning data
  • PowerPoint extension: creating and refining presentations using organization-defined templates
  • Word extension: making sweeping edits with track changes enabled, participating as a reviewer in comments, generating formatted documents
  • Outlook extension: prioritizing emails, organizing your inbox, scheduling meetings, and drafting replies using the context of your entire inbox

Why it matters

Amazon Quick could already handle tasks as an AI agent, but the key thing about these extensions is that the AI agent now shows up directly inside the office apps you already use every day. You don't have to switch tools or copy-paste data around, you can just ask it to help while you're still sitting in Excel or Outlook. That could meaningfully change everyday workflows.
