What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio now supports Amazon OpenSearch as a data source. That means you can query and analyze your search and log analytics data directly alongside your other data assets. You can combine it with existing sources like Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, and relational databases, all within a single, governed environment.

The story so far

Up until now, SageMaker Unified Studio could work with sources like Redshift, S3, and relational databases, but your OpenSearch search and log analytics data lived somewhere else. If you wanted to join application logs and metrics with transactional data, you had to hop between different tools, which added friction to every analysis.

With OpenSearch joining the list of supported data sources, there's a lot more you can do:

  • You can query and analyze OpenSearch's search and log analytics data directly alongside your other data assets
