AWS Backup Now Protects FSx in the New Zealand Region!
Hi, it's Shii-chan! Today I have a Region expansion to share!
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
In AWS What's New, AWS announced that AWS Backup now supports Amazon FSx in the Asia Pacific (New Zealand) Region.
The supported file systems are:
- Amazon FSx for Lustre
- Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP
- Amazon FSx for OpenZFS
- Amazon FSx for Windows File Server
Why it matters
Data protection is the foundation for business continuity, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance. If you run FSx in the New Zealand Region, managing it with AWS Backup like your other resources makes operations much easier.
What changes
You can now automate and centrally manage data protection for FSx file systems in this Region, alongside your other supported AWS resources.
Dive Deep
Here is what you can do:
- Create policy-based backup plans to schedule backups and apply retention rules
- Store backups in encrypted vaults
- Restore file systems when needed
Doing all of this from a single service helps you meet business continuity, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance requirements.
To get started, use the AWS Backup console, the AWS CLI, or the AWS SDKs. For the complete list of supported Regions and features, see the AWS Backup documentation.
Wrap-up
- All four FSx types are supported by AWS Backup in the New Zealand Region
- Backup plans, encrypted vaults, and restores are handled in one place
- Available through the console, CLI, and SDKs
This is for anyone running FSx in the New Zealand Region or working under data protection requirements!
