AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

AWS What's New announced that AWS Continuum for Penetration Testing (AWS Security Agent) is now available in six additional Regions. It's a managed security service for running penetration tests against your web applications and APIs.

The story so far

Until now, its geographic reach was limited. Organizations with data residency requirements had a harder time building localized security testing.

What changes

You can run penetration testing workloads closer to your production environments. Organizations operating across several geographies can keep up their security testing while meeting data residency requirements.

Dive Deep

The newly supported Regions are:

  • Asia Pacific (Seoul)
  • Canada (Montreal)
  • Europe (London)
  • US East (Ohio; the announcement text also says Columbus)
  • Europe (Paris)
  • Europe (Stockholm)

The use cases called out are:

  • Vulnerability assessments
  • Compliance validation against frameworks such as PCI DSS and ISO 27001
  • Continuous security posture evaluations

Existing supported Regions remain fully operational.
