What was announced?
On AWS's What's New, AWS Cost Anomaly Detection announced that it now monitors spend on third-party foundation models running on Amazon Bedrock, such as Anthropic's Claude.
The story so far
Cost Anomaly Detection uses machine learning to catch unusual spend and alert you about it. Until now, though, third-party model spend on Bedrock wasn't fully covered by that monitoring — which made it an easy blind spot for teams running generative AI in production.
What changes
With this update, your third-party Bedrock model costs are automatically evaluated through your AWS managed service monitor — no setup needed. When spend on a model shifts unexpectedly, you get an alert along with a root-cause breakdown ranked by dollar impact, broken down by AWS service, account, region, and usage type. In short: your Bedrock model spend now gets the same fast anomaly detection as the rest of your AWS bill.
