AWS End User Messaging and Amazon SES Now Offer AI Agent Skills You Can Just Talk To!
Hello everyone, it's me, Shii-chan! There's a fun update today for AWS's messaging services and AI agents!
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
According to AWS What's New, AWS End User Messaging and Amazon SES have published AI agent skills for the AWS MCP Server. That means developers can now handle messaging tasks just by talking to their agent in plain language.
These skills work with popular AI coding agents:
- Claude Code
- Codex
- Cursor
- Kiro
The story so far
Before this, if you wanted to verify a sending identity, build a branded Rich Communication Services (RCS) agent, or set up production email sending, you had to hop between multiple documentation pages and console screens. That sounds like a lot of manual digging!
What changes
The new skills give your agent step-by-step, validated guidance for tasks like:
- Verifying sending identities
- Building branded RCS agents with cards and buttons
- Sending production emails
For example, you could just ask Amazon SES to verify a sending identity and send your first production email, or ask AWS End User Messaging to build a branded RCS agent and send yourself a rich message with cards and buttons. No more manually searching docs or switching between console screens.
Dive Deep
To get started, you first connect the AWS MCP Server to your agent.
- In Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, the aws-core plugin bundles the server and a curated set of skills in one install
- In Kiro and other agents, you add the server to your MCP configuration file manually
Once connected, add the skill for whichever channel you want, and your agent is ready to guide you. More details on what each skill does are in the AWS End User Messaging SMS and RCS agent setup guide.
Wrap-up
- AWS End User Messaging and Amazon SES now offer AI agent skills for the AWS MCP Server
- Supported agents: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Kiro
- You can verify sending identities, build RCS agents, and send production email through natural language
- Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor get easy setup via the aws-core plugin
- No more jumping between docs and console screens
If you work with AWS messaging services and already use an AI coding agent, this one's worth trying out!
