AWS Transform's .NET Modernization Now Runs with Just One CLI Command!

Hi, it's me, shiichan! Great news today for anyone working with .NET: AWS Transform's .NET modernization capability can now be triggered from the CLI with just one line!

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, AWS announced that its AWS-managed transformation for .NET modernization in AWS Transform custom is now generally available via a single one-line CLI command. You can run it interactively, or script it into any existing pipeline or workflow so it runs autonomously.

The story so far

Until now, AWS Transform for .NET was available through these experiences:

  • The web application
  • Visual Studio IDE
  • Kiro Power
  • MCP agents

This new CLI doesn't replace any of those — it complements them, giving you one more way to reach the same modernization capability. Where the previous options were mostly GUI-driven, the CLI is something you can call directly from a script.

What changes

With the CLI, you can now weave .NET modernization work into your CI/CD pipelines and existing automation workflows. Instead of only running it interactively, you can have it run autonomously as part of a defined process. That's a quiet but genuinely useful upgrade for teams that want to continuously transform and analyze large codebases.

Dive Deep

AWS Transform custom lets organizations modernize and transform code at scale using both AWS-managed and custom transformations. It can:

  • Upgrade language versions
  • Migrate frameworks
  • Optimize performance
  • Analyze codebases

These transformations keep improving over time — AWS says they learn from each engagement to become more accurate and efficient.

AWS Transform custom and AWS Transform for .NET are both available in these 8 AWS Regions:

  • US East (N. Virginia)
  • Asia Pacific (Mumbai)
  • Asia Pacific (Tokyo)
  • Asia Pacific (Seoul)
  • Asia Pacific (Sydney)
  • Canada (Central)
  • Europe (Frankfurt)
  • Europe (London)

On pricing, the .NET modernization transformation includes 50,000 free agent minutes per month. For full pricing details and examples, check the AWS Transform Pricing page, and for more on the transformation itself, see AWS-Managed Transformations in the AWS Transform User Guide.

Wrap-up

  • AWS Transform for .NET modernization is now GA via CLI
  • A single one-line CLI command supports both interactive runs and pipeline integration
  • The CLI joins the existing web app, Visual Studio IDE, Kiro Power, and MCP agent experiences
  • Available in 8 regions, with 50,000 free agent minutes included per month

If you're a .NET team looking to bake code modernization into your CI/CD process, this one's for you!
