AWS Transform for migrations lands in Singapore, with data staying in-region

Hi everyone, it's Shii-chan! There's a nice migration update today, so let me walk you through it!

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

In AWS What's New, AWS announced that AWS Transform for migrations is now available in the Asia Pacific (Singapore) Region.

AWS Transform is a collaborative enterprise IT transformation service powered by agentic AI. It accelerates cloud migration, application modernization, and continuous tech debt reduction.

Why it matters

Migration tooling works closely with your source infrastructure. The Singapore launch highlights two points:

  • Data residency within the region
  • Lower latency to local source infrastructure

What changes

Teams with on-premises or other servers near Singapore can now run their migrations from this Region. It should also be easier to choose for companies that need to keep data in-region!

Dive Deep

AWS Transform for migrations uses purpose-built AI agents to automate the whole migration lifecycle. The announcement mentions:

  • Discovery and wave planning
  • Network conversion
  • Launching test and cutover instances

Supported sources are described as virtually any environment, including VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, bare metal, and hybrid setups. Teams, tools, and workflows come together in a single collaborative workbench.

For details, see the AWS Transform documentation and product page!

Wrap-up

  • AWS Transform for migrations is now available in the Singapore Region
  • In-region data residency and lower latency to local sources are the benefits
