Goodbye manual checks! AWS DataSync gets a monitoring dashboard!

Hey everyone, it's me! Great news if you're managing a lot of data transfers!

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, the AWS DataSync console now includes a monitoring dashboard that gives you visibility into your data transfers across your entire account. You can see each task execution's status, transfer rates, duration, and the total data and files transferred, all in one place.

The story so far

Previously, monitoring multiple transfers meant reviewing each execution individually or building a custom Amazon CloudWatch dashboard yourself. That got harder to manage as the number of transfer tasks grew.

What changes

The new dashboard lets you filter executions by status, task, task mode, execution ID, or start time. It then summarizes the filtered results — successful and failed execution counts, plus cumulative data and files transferred, grouped by task. You can select a failed execution to view its errors directly for troubleshooting. It also shows counts of your configured tasks, locations, and agents, along with real-time total transfer rates — especially handy for large migrations and recurring transfers running many tasks at once.

Dive Deep

The dashboard is available directly in the AWS DataSync console, at no additional cost, in all commercial AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions where DataSync is available.
