AWS Marketplace and Amazon Business Unified Storefront Is Here

Hi everyone, it's Shii-chan!

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

Today's news is about procurement, so it's more about a company's purchasing than an engineer's workflow.

What was announced?

AWS announced the AWS Marketplace and Amazon Business unified storefront.

Organizations can give their teams one curated catalog that puts software, data, and AI tools from AWS Marketplace alongside physical goods and supplies from Amazon Business.

The story so far

Many enterprises buy from both, but they had two catalogs with duplicated approval rules and separate reporting.

What changes

Procurement teams get one front door. Administrators set governance rules once, and they apply across both catalogs.

Dive Deep

It's built on AWS Marketplace Storefront. Here's how it works:

  • Administrators connect their organization's Amazon Business account and import Amazon Business products into their branded storefront
  • Buyers browse AWS Marketplace listings and Amazon Business products in one place
  • Purchases of AWS Marketplace listings complete in the storefront and appear on the customer's AWS invoice
  • Selecting an Amazon Business product uses single sign-on to take the buyer to an authenticated Amazon Business cart, with no second login
  • Each storefront connects only to the accounts its administrator sets up

The Amazon Business connector is available in all AWS Regions where AWS Marketplace operates, for AWS Marketplace Storefront customers who have access to both the AWS Marketplace and Amazon Business APIs.

Wrap-up

  • A unified storefront now combines AWS Marketplace and Amazon Business
  • Governance rules are set once and apply to both catalogs
  • Marketplace purchases land on the AWS invoice, and Amazon Business uses single sign-on to the cart

This is for people who handle purchasing and procurement at their company!
