AWS Billing Dashboards Get a New Cost Anomaly Widget!
Hey, it's me! I found a small but genuinely useful update today, so let me walk you through it.
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
AWS's What's New page announced that AWS Billing and Cost Management (BCM) Dashboards now include a "Detected Anomalies" widget. You can now review cost anomalies right alongside your cost and usage, budgets, cost efficiency, and Savings Plans / Reserved Instance coverage and utilization reports — all in the same dashboard.
The story so far
AWS Cost Anomaly Detection already existed, but you had to open a separate screen to see its results. If you were already living in BCM Dashboards to track costs and budgets, checking anomalies meant an extra trip somewhere else.
What changes
By adding the Detected Anomalies widget to a BCM Dashboard, finance teams and cloud administrators can now spot anomalies right inside their existing cost management workflow. The widget shows the number of detected anomalies and their total cost impact relative to your month-to-date spend, so you get immediate context on how big a deal each one is.
Dive Deep
For each anomaly, you can review:
- Cost impact
- Root cause
- Duration
You can also tune what the widget shows you:
- Look-back period: 30, 60, or 90 days
- Filters: severity, service, account, and region
That lets each dashboard surface only what's relevant to that account. The widget links directly to the AWS Cost Anomaly Detection console, so investigating an anomaly or logging your assessment is just a click away. It's also fully wired into dashboard exports — you can include it in scheduled email reports or download it as CSV or PDF — and it works with cross-account dashboard sharing too.
There's no additional charge, and it's available in all commercial AWS Regions.
Wrap-up

- No extra charge, available in every commercial region
If you're a finance or cloud ops person who lives in cost dashboards, this quiet little update is going to make your day.
