Introducing cf: the agentic CLI for the entire Cloudflare API
Hi everyone, Shii-chan here! Today's news is a new Cloudflare CLI.
Cloudflare BlogWhat was announced?
The Cloudflare Blog announced cf, a new command-line tool that covers the whole Cloudflare API and is designed mainly for use by AI agents. Forge, the internal SDK generator, is being open sourced along with it.
The story so far
Wrangler has around 280 commands. cf expands that to more than 3,000 operations across Cloudflare's whole product suite.
Agents made up 25% of Wrangler usage in March 2026, and last week that reached 48%, up from single digits a year earlier. Agents use almost twice as many distinct commands daily and are four times more likely to run six or more commands than humans.
What changes
- Discovery:
cf cli searchfinds operations from natural language queries without inflating the context window - JSON first: condensed JSON for agents and pretty-printed output for humans
- Configuration in TypeScript: the new
cloudflare.config.tsreplaces TOML and JSONC, with type safety and LSP support
Dive Deep
The config file comes with helper functions:
bindings: discover platform capabilitiestriggers: define routes, schedules, queues, and email triggers
With a factory-based structure, some configuration files that had 5,000+ lines were condensed by 40%.
Vite replaces esbuild as the default build tool, bringing hot module replacement, Rolldown-based tree-shaking, and Vite's plugin ecosystem.
Installation and migration look like this:
npm i -g cf
cf migrate
cf init
cf deploy
cf migrate moves you over from Wrangler automatically, and new projects start with cf init and cf deploy. The tool is open source, with issues tracked on GitHub. Wrangler will get 18 months of maintenance support after cf's open beta ends.
Wrap-up
- cf arrives, covering the entire Cloudflare API
- From about 280 commands to 3,000+ operations
- JSON by default, and
cf cli searchfor discovery - TypeScript configuration with
cloudflare.config.ts, and Vite for builds - Wrangler keeps 18 months of maintenance
This is for anyone who wants to work with Cloudflare alongside agents, or manage config with types!
