What was announced?
On the Cloudflare Changelog, they announced a new category called Scam, added under the Gateway's "Security Threats" categories. Scam refers to fraudulent websites and schemes designed to trick victims into giving away money or personal information. Relevant domains will now be labeled with this Scam category.
Why it matters
Scam sites have a somewhat different flavor of danger than phishing or malware-hosting sites. Pages that lure people in with messages like "you've won a prize" or "you have a refund waiting" aren't always caught by straightforward malware detection. Splitting this out into its own category makes it easier to specifically identify this kind of threat.
What changes
Admins building policies around Gateway's domain categories can now target the Scam category directly to block (or monitor) access to scam sites as a group. Previously you could only filter at the broader "Security Threats" level, so this adds a finer-grained option.
